At Little Lunch we squeezed between the portable classroom and the fence, Battie fell off the old climbing tree and Melanie counted EVERYTHING. Every day they came home and told us stories about funny stuff that happened during playlunch - about a game of Kiss Chaseys. On my recent visit we sat together reading a bunch of books and this one I am reviewing as a promise when I was given by NetGalley. A lot of Little Lunch - the original six titles, now with an additional Bonus Stuff activities, in one Big Book! Little stories, tiny stories, but to kids, these are great Shakespearian sagas packed into fifteen minutes of recess.ighly and hilariously illustrated, three stories of the antics and adventures that kids can get up to in the 15 minutes that is “Little Lunch”! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Candlewick Press and Candlewick Entertainment through NetGalley. This book contains three shorts stories that are sure to have children laughing and snickering if read to them out loud or as a child is reading this to themselves. Another story is about dressup day, and how one child puts on an apron to look like a vet, because she doesn't have a lab coat.

Most of the situations are amusing and humorous, although being "germblocked" seemed, to me, rather too much like bullying for me to fully enjoy that episode, but I appreciated the positive choice made by the story's protagonist. Each short story revolves around what are situations children in Elementary school experience daily or at least on a regular basis. Danny Katz is a newspaper columnist for The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald, and is famous for his larger-than-life characters.

Three bite-size stories kick off a series based on a popular TV show about all the fun (and maybe a little trouble) that happens at snack time. This book was received as an ARC from Candlewick Press - Candlewick Entertainment in exchange for an honest review. Author Danny Katz really captures the craziness and heightened emotions of recess at school, and the little things that are so important in that time.We have watched the television production of Little Lunch before having the chance to read this fun book. It brings into the discussion interpersonal relationships between students and children even questioning themselves. Next, Battie comes to school dressed as his own made-up superhero, Stretcho, but can't understand why no one wants to be rescued. As someone who works in an Elementary School daily, I can totally see each of these situations happening at least in part.
