Danielle Steel has been hailed as one of the world’s bestselling authors, with almost a billion copies of her novels sold. Can Antonia take the pressure of being placed at the centre of the action, or will she take the comfortable route and retreat once more?

I enjoyed Lara, Antonia's stepmother, She gave Antonia some love and compassion when it was pretty clear that Antonia's dad was incapable of showing love or compassion.Antonia was only a child when her mother abandoned her and her father and Brandon becomes remote and closed off from his daughter. She then struggles in a factory/war hospital until she meets a younger man of average means who sweeps her off her feet and they move to a picturesque cottage and live happily once her rich nasty ex dies from typhoid/war/horse accident.

She will never let go of her true dream of becoming a filmmaker, though, and if she wants to make that leap, she will have to expose herself in ways she never has before. Unprotected and unloved, she learns that the only way to feel safe is to draw as little attention as possible, to be invisible. Invisible covers the story of Antonia and follows her from her neglected childhood to her career in film.I read this Author's book "Beautiful," which was powerful and this was enjoyable but not as in depth.

Danielle Steel always brings us stories that pull on your heartstrings and brings you into the world of the characters. Brandon’s father had died in the Pacific during the war, and his mother had died when he was in college. The story was good, but I never laughed out loud, or cried, or gasped, it was just a pleasant story that was just interesting enough to keep me turning the pages.I worried that Antonia would grow up and have issues with attachment since both parents never made her feel wanted or loved. As a child, she is abandoned in the abyss that yawns between them, blamed by her mother, ignored by her father, and neglected by both. Some mental health counselling prior to this point in the story would not have gone astray - but those are my personal feelings. Antonia deals with this as she always does, and puts her nose to the grindstone at home and at school and makes herself invisible by doing everything that is expected of her and not drawing attention to herself.

She had full breasts and a tiny waist, long slim legs, and coiled her dark hair in a knot at the nape of her neck. The characters are still likable, I was disappointed the best friend all but disappeared about halfway through the book. He was from an old, respected family whose fortune had dwindled slowly over time, but there was still enough left for his widow and son to live in a decent neighborhood in a nice apartment in the East Eighties in New York, and for Brandon to get a good education at Columbia, and go to business school after that. There is a narrowed focus on the film industry, with a specific look at the screen writing industry.
