With Beco, you’ll get a wide range of comfortable carry option to use whenever you see fit, without the back pain. But many parents aren't still carrying regularly at that point anyway and those that are are often more than happy to move onto the Beco Toddler.

Not as cozy for little ones with limited adjustability Editor's Note: We updated the Beco Gemini review on October 17, 2022, with new sections to provide additional comparisons between products to help you with your final decision. I never quite feel like I can get the carrier tight enough around my waist to hold up this giant baby. The thing that swung it for me was the four different types of hold, traditional facing inwards at the front, facing outwards, hip carry and back. This cloudy sky Beco Gemini carrier is a firm favourite among parents looking for a simple to use yet sturdy and comfortable carrier for babies into the early toddler stage.

We are not saying this is the reason, however moms that used to own it before and bought it now are less happy with it. carriers like the Ergo and Lillebaby carriers have thickly padded shoulder straps and firm thickly padded waist bands, while light weight carriers like the Izmi or Connecta have no padding or only very light soft padding across both the shoulders and the waist band. However we can report that a lot of people do not appreciate the the hip strap being longer on one side than the other.

I also like that at the end of each strap, there is an elastic band sewn in so that you can roll up the excess strap fabric and not have the straps dangling off your sides. The carrier also has various settings, flaps and adjustments that can help the baby get comfortable enough to sleep (with additional head support) or in the right positions to breastfeed or bottle-feed. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Adjusting between the two seat settings is ultra simple it simply fastens into either position using poppers. Although there are some complaints about material being ‘cheap’ and less reliable than, say, Ergobaby’s, there are not too many reports of Gemini tearing up even when used for couple of children.I still really have to focus when I get bub into back carry mode but that’s probaby because I don’t put her in the back much and haven’t developed a rhythm. When the baby gets a little bigger, adjust it to ‘narrow base’ by simply snapping the base wings up and take your baby’s legs out. You can find more information about carrying in the heat with this article written by Rosie Knowles. Beat the heat with a moisture-wicking microfiber fabric and a breathable 3D mesh vented panel for excellent airflow. One final note before we dive into the actual facts: don’t confuse Beco with Graco, even though they sound almost identical.

In the inward-facing frontal position, you can simply adjust a couple of snaps to make sure it’s safe for those tiny legs. The Beco Gemini can also be machine washed on a cool cycle if necessary, again using a mild detergent.

When they get a little bigger they can be carried in facing in legs out position with narrower base. Learn about different types of carriers, how to use them, and post a fit check for advice on how to get an optimal fit. It supposedly is made so that the hip buckle is on the side not at the back but it does not end up working that way for most moms.

Suitable from birth to toddler (7-35lbs) the Gemini has many features that make it super comfy for you and baby. I really prefer a placement closer to the center because I often delicately remove carrier while holding sleeping baby and this makes it a bit tough if I am using my left hand. The Beco Gemini may be less complex, with fewer adjustments to fiddle with, but it's not the most comfortable carrier for a child. Because it is so lightweight it doesn't feel bulky to use with a small baby, and so generally even though the 8 works well with a newborn, the Gemini is still often the one the feels more natural with smaller babies. Although there are some complaints about the safety buckles, it seems like a useful feature, considering that the only downside is discomfort when taking it off and perhaps the extra minute (or less) it takes.

Still hate the extra secure button on the waist strap snap, but have been learned to do it one-handed. The Beco Gemini Baby Carrier is one comfortable, practical baby carrier with a definite sense of style. This isn't really a criticism as part of the appeal of this carrier is that it is smaller and the reason it works really well for newborns (or babies in the 2-3 month age range who are often between settings in a lot of other carriers) is because it is a smaller carrier.
