It feels appropriate that baseball season is right around the corner because Cooler Master has hit it out of the park with the Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition. The cooler comes with the new SF120R fan pre-mounted, and the overall look is very sleek with the black nickel finish and black plastic fan brackets and frame. It’s rated at a bit higher speed than the Silencio fan we talked about earlier so in theory it should move a bit more air. It is wide enough that it does shroud the RAM or power diodes on my board but is raised enough that it still fits (on my motherboard).

The new revision of the Hyper 212 Black Edition keeps tradition alive using the same basic model that you would find on the original Hyper 212 CPU cooler. With the RGB fan installed, the cooler does loose a little bit of that super stealthy vibe we were getting from the previous one. SILENCIO FP120 FAN - Ultra-quiet Silent Driver IC technology reduces noise (6 5 - 26 dBA) and delivers robust air pressure (2 9 mmH₂O) Can be easily configured into a dual push-pull system with a secondary fan (not included). DIRECT COOLING WITH GROOVED FINS - 4 embedded copper heat pipes (Ø6mm) in flat array includes additional aluminium fins with lateral grooves upon the plate to further augment thermal conductivity. The aluminum top cover and nickel plated jet black fins give the Hyper 212 Black Edition a more premium exterior appeal .The amazing performance you’d get in an inexpensive package is what has kept system builders coming back build after build. The said heat pipes come into direct contact with the CPU's integrated heat spreader, where the contact plate looks to be pretty well-machined as well. One of the Hyper 212 Halo Black's key features is its new and improved fan - a MasterFan MF120 HALO² part. The Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition newly improved 120 mm square RGB fan was designed to produce great airflow and quietness.

With the Hyper 212 Halo Black all installed on the AM4 test bench, it's now time to sit back and enjoy the MF120 HALO²'s RGB lightshow - I personally quite like the fan’s aesthetics, especially with the RGB diffuser rings that add some character to CPU cooler’s overall appearance. The Direct Contact Technology, stacked fins and 4 heatpipes reduces airflow resistance, reduces heat spots and increase airflow to the heatsinks.Your personality is embedded in each of those choices, transcending from hardware to an immersive, custom-built experience. Our components represent so many different personalities because PC enthusiasts don’t fit into just one mold. Moving over to the bottom of the cooling tower assembly, we see that the Hyper 212 Halo Black features four direct-contact heat pipes that are painted black so as to match the rest of the cooling tower’s appearance.

An additional fan helps to pull heat away faster from the heatsink to avoid dynamic losses and helps to accelerate heat exhaust. The contents of the box are securely packaged thanks to the use of cardboard dividers and foam inserts. Similarly, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition CPU cooler’s box features the same design and overall scheme. The most recent addition, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition, as the name suggests features an updated clean black aesthetic, as well as a new included fan the Silencio FP120.heat pipes with exclusive Direct Contact Technology provide effective and excellent heat dissipation. Now switching over to the Hyper 212 Black Edition and I saw temps around 33 degrees Celsius and under load it only got as far as 62 degrees Celsius with fan speed set to 1,400 rpm and the best part was the acoustic performance was phenomenal. The Hyper 212 Halo Black comes in a box sporting Cooler Master’s trademark colour palette – we’re talking a predominantly purple box with splashes of cyan and pink for added visual appeal. There has been a healthy demand for dark or blacked out components for stealthy system builds lately.
