Description

Given the vast majority of the "incidents" described, most are fairly normal for an old house: doors opening and closing themselves, objects appearing and disappearing, moving around, things levitating, clocks stopping, phone ringing when unplugged, pets not wanting to go in, or seeming to react to something unseen by their owners, smells and cold that come and go, hearing footsteps, sensing and seeing presences. Two months after the Perron family abandoned this place in the country, John, all of nineteen years old, drove from Rhode Island to Georgia. They know where the doors were, but while they talk about the three stairways to the cellar, (how many to the second floor?

Now is the time to tell the whole truth about what happened in a house alive with death as we lived an illuminating decade of life. Like any number of horror geeks, I'm curious about what really happened in Harrisville, Rhode Island as featured in The Conjuring. That being said, I will DEFINITELY purchase the next two volumes when they become available as I think the rest of the story needs to be told. The books tell a much more fascinating and truer version of events that had me looking in the shadows at night after reading chapters. A use of Strunk and White and an editor to help with structure, time lines and efficient use of language could make this a five star read.

Another thing I observed was that in the telling, most of the major attacks seemed to come just after a party, date or other really good day. During those final desperate moments of her life, was she frightened by her own intentions or steadfast in her resolve? I had really wanted to read it after seeing the movie "The Conjuring," and was interested in the real story of this haunted house.

And not just in the house, a cigarette flew through a closed window in the car and burned one of the girls pants, there were chimney fires, and oil burner problems. It has proved to be quite an excursion in its own right, spawning some nightmares while exhuming our memories of the dead. The Conjuring is more from the Warrens point of view so obviously the book is going to be vastly different.

Quote from page eight An astral convergence began as a Universal Plan began spinning in perpetual motion, stirring up the cosmos. The first weird thing about the book was that it was written by one of the girls in the family, but she tells the story in third person.

Having heard another the movie, I decided to read the story behind the hauntings first, and boy am I glad I did.Carolyn had long been under siege; overt threats issued in the form of fire…a mother’s greatest fear. I do think this could have been condensed into one book, as there is a lot of rumination and repetition. Now, with footage and reenactments to support her stories, Perron delves into the haunting tales of her upbringing. Would love your recommendations on such books which deal with real life spirit experiences and extra terrestrial encounters. Whether as an act of eternal damnation for an ill-conceived exit from a mortal existence, or as the dire consequence of the premature departure, her spirit lingers still, remaining in her old home place in the country; a farmhouse where she once lived out her days then died by her own hand.
