Which we do, for the second half of the book, and I had a great deal of trouble putting the book down.

Szenen- und Ortswechsel, diverse Wendungen, vor allem für Olli und Idris fand ich wirklich tolle Entwicklungen ihrer Charaktere. Kindle edition, Location 7866) That is one of many human touches that Tchaikovsky adds at key moments as a sharp contrast to the values guiding much of the universe that is trying to use Idris as a weapon of war. Tchaikovsky gets a bit repetitious at times, such as constantly noting how spacer culture 'just makes do', repairing things on the fly, or his rather ornate attempts to decipher unspace into language because it is just so different from reality as we know it. The crew, at this point, consists of one of the most interesting point of view characters, the irreverent Olli, a human born without many limbs who gets around with the aid of a complex walker; Junior, an Ogdru or enormous fish-like entity living in a tank of water who has uncanny navigational abilities; and Kittering or Kit, a Hannilambra or crab-like creature handling trade for salvage items. In a review for Locus, Russell Letson praised Shards of Earth as an example of "recombinant sci-fi" because it combines several large ideas into a "busy, complicated, surprising [concoction].Deep within unspace, where time moves differently, and reality isn’t quite what it seems, their masters are the true threat. All things considered, even though it lacks the sheer sense of wonder of some of his other works, Lords of Uncreation is a fitting capstone to the trilogy. We follow this complex story through multiple points of view, and Tchaikovsky manages to humanize and keep us interested in even the worst characters who want to fight off most of humanity to keep alive their narrow circle of committed fascists and brutal warlords.

The third installment really rounds out the story and fleshes out the characters in ways I didn't expect. Irdis, the oldest Int still working, has been haunted by the 'presence' for a long time, but it never goes away, or even gets easier. No malas šķiet, ka kults kurā visi pielūdz austerveidīgus radījumus, kuriem pati ideja par kustību šķiet ķecerība.Broken Harvest attempts to kidnap the crew again, and eventually catches them near Berlenhof, capital of Hugh.
