Sure, having an Asian-American kid involved in the world is cool, but why do there need to be so many guys in the suit? Mistaken Identity: Emma notices that Yu has bandages on his arm in the exact same spots that "Spider-Man" got hurt while rescuing her from carjackers the day before. One caveat though is I do think this book is aimed at a younger audience as character motivations don’t get too deep and the end leans into near fan fiction at times, but i recommend it all the same. She is afraid of what he might think of her being gay but of course he is totally cool with it, but still hurts a little since it was obvious he had a crush on her.

Liar Revealed: Yu thinks this'll be a problem if Emma finds out he isn't really Spider-Man, worrying that it'll make her want nothing to do with him. We start off with a very tired, defeated, sad looking Spiderman, dropping and throwing away his suit in an alley. Silk makes a surprising appearance, so if you're a fan of her character you'll be thrilled to see her. An awkward teenager puts on Spider-Man’s suit, but quickly learns being a hero isn’t all photo ops and social media likes. Spider-Man: Fake Red has great artwork, which includes well-drawn action sequences, and is filled with plenty of easter eggs that fans of Marvel will be quick to catch! But Not Too Foreign: Yu is a Japanese-American high school student, making him an ideal viewpoint character to explore New York for a Japanese reader. I am referring to the ability to have the strength, and the resolve to be the hero that New York and the World need. The Spider-Verse movies explore a similar idea of: everyone can wear the mask, what counts is how you wear it.

But when he discovers that Spider-Man is missing now he must take his place and protect the innocent. The premise is that in the marvel universe there is a young man named Yu with self esteem issues who wishes he could be as courageous as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man who protects his city. Overall this was an enjoyable read, and like the author, I hope it's given a chance to continue as a series.Be Careful What You Wish For: Yu admires Spider-Man and tries to emulate him even a little by taking up bouldering. Given this was a discontinued series though I’m sure that was an impacting factor on what was allowed to be explored and I’m sure Marvel gave Yusuke Osawa so many caveats when clearing this that there is where it probably suffered. From this, she correctly deduces that Yu is the Spider-Man who rescued her, and incorrectly deduces that Spider-Man has always been Yu. Spider-Man: Fake Red is a manga based on Marvel's most iconic hero, the "one and only" Spider-Man, serialized between July 2019 and March 2020. Yu thought it's fun to try out a Spider-Man costume but when he faces powerful enemies he realises he's not out of his element.
